About the Company
LAFE® Technologies, a privately held Ohio-registered corporation, conducts innovative research and develops solutions to problems in communications, security, finance and medicine. Our applications perform data compression, encryption, routing, mining, and the simulation of complex processes. LAFE invented and patented Cellular Automata Transforms (CAT) a powerful computational technique for compressing, encrypting and processing data. LAFE produces solutions that allow efficient storage and transmission of data (including plain text, documents, images, audio, and video); at anytime and anywhere, using common computing electronic devices operating within standard communication protocols.
LAFE Technologies was organized in November 1993 for the purpose of commercializing its proprietary technology for compression, encryption, modeling and electronic movement of data, using CAT. Olurinde Lafe, Ph.D., founded LAFE Technologies and he is the inventor of CAT. During the 1980s Dr. Lafe was involved in a research project under the Strategic Defense Initiative Program (“Star Wars”) with funding from the Office of Naval Research.
Capitalizing on the unique compression abilities and natural encryption of CAT, in early 1996 LAFE Technologies launched the beta version of QuikCAT® Image Compression Software. In early 1997 CATLock, 64-bit encryption software, was released in beta form and approved for export by the Department of Commerce.
